Fresh Margaritas

While it’s 20 degrees outside in Kansas, picture this – a warm, spring day on a patio sipping on a margarita (on the rocks, no salt for me!). Who doesn’t love a good marg? Maybe it’s because I automatically associate it with chips, salsa, and cheese dip, of course. I am a one and done type of girl when it comes to margaritas because they’re normally way too sweet for me. This recipe below is the bomb.com because it uses freshly squeezed juice and honey for the sweetener. Plus, the sprite gives it the perfect fizz to make it super refreshing. My absolute fave margarita is the Pomegranate one from Chili’s (cue tons of memories from college). Unfortunately it’s no longer on the menu, but this recipe comes in as a close second.

This recipe is the perfect base but feel free to customize based on your tastes. If you prefer a stronger marg, add more tequila. If it’s too strong, add more water and/or sprite. There is really no messing this one up because you can also add more of the liquids to alter the flavor!

Lastly, this lemon squeezer is a MUST when making this recipe. It gets out every last bit of juice from the fruit and makes squeezing a 102980918 lemons, limes, and oranges completely manageable.

Fresh Margaritas

Yield – 12 margs

Ingredients –

1 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (~8 limes)

1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (~2 lemons)

3/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice (~4 oranges)

2 cups silver tequila

1.5 cups Triple Sec

1.5 cups water

4 – 6 tablespoons honey (see notes below)

2 cans sprite (see notes below)

Directions –

  1. Juice limes, lemons, and oranges (I did this the night before serving so prep the day of was super easy. I would say you could do this up to 24 hours prior to serving.)
  2. Add tequila, triple sec, & water to juice and mix
  3. Add a few tablespoons of honey at a time to mixture. This is where you’ll need to taste test. If you prefer sweeter, keep on adding that honey. Mix well with spoon.
  4. At this point, you can chill the margs for up to 6 hours or serve immediately. I always add the sprite right before serving. Again, add as much sprite as you like to dilute/add fizz.
