Tonight was hometowns on the Bachelorette–literally my favorite episode of every season! I wish I could share my thoughts on the episode but it’s almost midnight and I’m coming off of a pizza/sugar high so my brain is pretty fried. And let’s be real, you all want to get right to the good stuff–this recipe. I love browned butter and the flavor is so good. Added bonus, these bars could not be easier to make. Hopefully you all enjoy, too!
Browned Butter Cookie Bars
adapted from:
Ingredients:
½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
¾ cup brown sugar
¼ cup white sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs
1 cup chocolate chips
2 cups all purpose flour
½ tsp salt
½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Mix together flour, salt, baking powder, & baking soda in bowl and set aside
- Browning butter: In a medium sized pot, continuously stir butter over medium/high heat. The butter will bubble and foam, turn golden, and then start to brown. ALWAYS KEEP STIRRING! The butter should have a nutty smell and be fairly brown. Once that happens, remove from heat.
- Let butter cool slightly (~5 minutes) and then add sugars to pot and mix well
- Add in vanilla and eggs and stir until combined
- Add flour mixture to butter mixture and stir until combined (don’t over mix!)
- Fold in chocolate chips
- Grease and 9×13 pan and pour batter into pan
- Bake at 350 for 15-16 minutes (don’t over bake!)
